Hi from the desert in Southern Ca

Hi all, I was invited by Cabinetman. He made it sound inviting, so here I am. I recognize a lot of names here from other forums. I’m also known as Sleeper, but that was from a long time ago and not using that anymore.

First off I just want to say that I’m in no way a master woodworker. I come from a family of woodworkers and even worked as an apprentice Carpenter doing balloon framing and hardwood floors as a teen. As much as I loved framing and still do, I chose another road after Vietnam to be an electrician. I’m now pretty much specialized in backup power systems with a couple of years till retirement. ;D

Anyway I have a complete woodshop with the exception of a lath. I haven’t done any turning since High School woodshop. I just like building things that are useful and not really interested in doing the finer side of woodworking except to admire what others have done. I do however appreciate works of art and wouldn’t mind having some, but not built by me.

I’m also very cheap and an accomplished dumpster diver with maybe a little unorthodox building methods. I hope no one holds that against me.
