A while back, my laptop died. It was my only computer that had the link for this website. So, looking for it took a bit of a search. What was aggravating is that my wife had bought me a back up hard drive, that I never used.
Fortunately most of my pictures and email was web based, so I could access them. So, just for a heads up, we never know when we'll experience a melt down, prepare yourself (and your data). Actually my problem was a spilled full glass of Merlot. I don't think my keyboard liked it. Maybe if I had white wine instead. ;D

Mike, Are you saying your Model of Notebook was racist?! ;D Here is one thing you might try... 1. Have you decided that your Notebook is truly TRASH? ... If so, proceed. 2. Your hard disk may be GOOD!3. Here is a wonderful site to go to for a little help. www.crucial.com/store/ssd.aspx4. Go through the motions of looking to BUY a Solid State Drive... 5. In the process, you will find the directions on how INSTALL your NEW drive! 6. You know the rest... remove your HD being very careful... DO NOT touch the Contact Points. Hold by outside edges only... DO NOT place hands on the device, circuitry, etc. 7. If you want, wrap it up in good Butcher-Wrap paper, put into a small box with plenty of padding around it so it will NOT flop around (it is NOT a Floppy Disk!). ;D 8. Mail it to me... If you know approx. how many GB's you're looking at wanting to get back, you might include a USB Flash drive of at least THAT many GB's in the box. 9. There is a good chance I may be able to access your HD and copy files from it writing them to your USB Flash drive. Like all JPG's, etc. etc. 10. Then, I could Mail the USB device back to you... 11. You can see what I got... If you think of other things you want from the HD, that you didn't think of, let me know, (send USB device back to me [after you have copied all of it to your HD] and I will try to find what you're looking for. 12. ALL may not be lost... DO NOT use your notebook for target practice! ;D I will email mailing info. to you. Let me know what's happening... Later...

Thanks for the offer Joe. Actually I solved the problem with an axe, and went out and bought a new laptop. I gotta tell you that it sure felt good smashing the thing to bits. See pic below. .

I might have over reacted, but man-o-man it sure let out some steam. ;D I react on instinct. Blame it on my military training.

Well, Mike, I kinda figured you'd do something like that... ... that's why I said what I said... ;D The cost of a new keyboard may have added life to beast, though. The HD could have been salvageable though... too bad for that one... You could get a Solid State Drive and keep the other HD drive as a spare or SELL it! They are pricey, but it will be the LAST Drive you will ever buy! Glad you got a NEW one... what kind did you get?

It's an HP Pavilion g6. Win8. Still getting used to the O/S. My wife's Notebook has Win 7... I JUST HATE HATE IT! I hope Win 8 is better... Do you have a touch screen too where you can use the screen like a phone screen to do things? I still like my WinXP... I'm an ole die hard...
