Overall unit as it was during the Finishing process... Note: the two middle shelves are slanted for Magazine display. The other shelves are for books. The Magazine feature is the part I really liked and just HAD to make some for ourselves... Finally got around to it. Overall dimensions: 7.5' x 2' x 1' Top, sides, & shelves are Birch cabinet grade 3/4 ply. Back is 1/4 Poplar. Face Frame is 3/4 Poplar. Finishing is dyed using Trans-Tint Golden Brown (very close to Dad's color). Topped with Blonde Shellac. This is one of two... eventually to be the outside units of a simple Entertainment Center; to be made real soon, after design is complete.
Here it shows how the Magazine shelves work! I love it!

Hi Mike, Thank you... I thought Dad really nailed that design... They loved books and magazines. I guess, being in Calif. n all, I really should secure those to the wall! Never gave it much thought... but, after a little thought... What do think of using Hook & Eye combos like were used on old screen doors way back when? An Eye at the back/top of a Case... another Eye on the wall... Then, heavy wire with a hook at each end to quickly hook them to the wall? Just something to keep them upright during an earthquake. (hopefully)
