Hi,
I stumbled onto Kip as the result of buying something from his company on eBay... I noticed that they were in Phoenix, AZ. They use a nice western ranch lingo in all of their communications which is very nice. I made a few comments about the immigration problem, etc.
As a result, I got the following email from him... BTW, he gave me permission to publish his comments.

Howdy Joe,
My name is Kip Thompson and I am the owner of Thompson Brands and The Wisdom
Creek Trading Company. Thanks so much for your support on what we call SB 1070.
We don't really know what type of media coverage is going out there and all
we hear is how wrong we are for wanting to protect our nation and require
folks to follow the law. It's as if my ex- wife were running things.
The best way to support us is to let your fellow Californians know that
Arizona is not made up of a bunch of radical Mexican hating racists. We are
just hard working folk tired of getting spit on.
I find the fear tactic claims that our new law will lead to "Racial
Profiling" an insult and a slap in the face to our law enforcement
community. Do they really think that we would need a law to hide behind to
commit unethical and unlawful acts? Certainly not. If that were the case
here in Arizona I'd have moved long ago. The system isn't perfect and there
are bad cops everywhere but if I didn't trust the police at the basic levels
then I'd move. It's an insult to insinuate that our law enforcement
community is going to act inappropriately. We used to be innocent until
proven guilty. With sb1070 we are guilty no matter what we do.
Let your politicians know that a "Boycott" of Arizona is unconscionable!
Should any individual, business or organization wish to participate or
organize a boycott of Arizona then we say more power to them. It is there
right as United States citizens to stand for their cause as we stand for
ours. But when Politicians use their office and position to further their
own personal agendas I say SHAME ON THEM. They should conduct themselves and
their business in a manner that benefits the political subdivision they are
elected or appointed to represent. But when they act because they "disagree"
with some on somewhere they are placing their personal agendas ahead of
their duties and they need to be removed from office. We have a U.S.
Representative (Congressman) Here in our state (Grijalva) Encouraging people
to ignore SB 1070 when it takes effect and is urging government agencies to
not enforce the law. DID THEY ALL FORGET WHO THEY WORK FOR? Shame on them.
Vote them out.
Finally tell folks don't buy into the song and dance that they are only
coming here to work and make their lives better. For some that is true But,
They may be making their lives better but in the process they are
overburdening our system and lowering the quality of life for the rest of
us. Far too large a percentage of illegal's crossing the border are
facilitating Human and Drug smuggling, (the tales of the drop houses and the
brutality and torture are horrendous. But that isn't making the nightly
news.) There are unprecedented amounts of police pursuits, shootings, Gang
activity, home invasions, and homicides that go along with this culture. It
is a huge impact on our city and as innocent bystanders we are constantly
vigilante or we will become unintended victims of these activities.
For that group only looking to better their own lives? They are doing so
with a selfish disregard for our society. The illegal population has the
highest percentage of inmates incarcerated in our penal system. The
undocumented workers avoid huge amounts of taxes by working under the table
all the while taxing the resources of services intended for our citizens.
They fill the schools and hospitals receiving benefits and services they are
not only not entitled to but, don't pay any monies to support. I personally
know two elementary schools teachers who have Quit their jobs due to the
overwhelming amount of students that cannot speak English.
These "undocumented" workers drive uninsured vehicles putting many at risk,
Commit a variety of felony and misdemeanor crimes and too high a percentage
of them live in a manner that is disrespectful of our community. Their life
may have improved from the impoverished third world conditions they live in
but, they are lowering the standards of living of the areas here they now
live in.
The Mayor of Phoenix and the chief of police will be the first to be on the
national news to oppose sb 1070 and you in California will see that. But did
you see the story where the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation department
CLOSED the City soccer league completely. The city stated the cities soccer
league was comprised primarily of teams consisting of illegal immigrants
from a variety of south American countries. The reasons the city listed for
stopping the league were: Participants were not paying fees, vandalism,
crime and the presence of trash, beer and liquor bottles littering the parks
spiked at every event and city property was being lost damaged or stolen.
Non Hispanic citizens were afraid to use the parks. Did you see that story?
Most of us didn't either; way back hidden in the back of the newspaper.
We are just tired of being told we are wrong for protecting what is ours.
The message they want us to get is that IT'S NOT OURS. We ain't buying.
Don't believe a word Napolitano from homeland security says. She was our
Governor and said this is a Federal problem. But she won't act on it from
Washington either.
I'm thinking that maybe we should go ahead and build our own fence along the
border. Not the only the one with mexico but the other three sides as well.
Thanks for your word of support, The "Gang" Loved them.
Our best,
Kip Thompson.
