I have a DW735 thickness planer.
When I wrap it up & move it out of the way, I raise the Back apron & wrap the AC power cord around the knobs and around the apron to hold it up.
That has worked for me... for years... until today!!
I wanted to clean up a 5" x 5" x 20" block.
So, I proceed to raise the head to 5" before unwinding the power cord, etc. As I am raising the head, it gets harder & harder to raise... I just figured it was a little sticky because I rarely open it to that thickness... Then I hear some strange noises...
I look around to the backside to see the power cord stretched to the point where it's almost CUT IN HALF against the apron!
I had to cut, splice, and tape it up before I could use it...
Moral of story: DO NOT wrap the power cord around the back apron to hold it up... leave the apron down!
I hope I have prevented other DW735 owners from doing the same thing.

Hi Joe, this reminds me of a true story and doesn’t really have anything to do with planers, but I thought it was pretty funny back when it happened. ;D A coworker decided to take the boss up on an electric scissor lift to show off his work. It was just before lunch and they were almost to the top when the cord which was wrapped around a portion of the scissor lift pulled out of the wall. Everyone had left the building for lunch and they had to wait up on the lift for everybody to come back from lunch to come down. I don’t remember if there was a way to come down without power, but they said the cord was wrapped around the scissor and would probably get cut in half if not jamb up the lift.
