Wall Shelf unit with Sliding Dovetails
1x2x3/4 strips screwed together. Clamped down, router rides along top rails, bit adjusted to lowest point... Move over to new section and do it again... til done. DO NOT TILT ROUTER FORWARD OR BACKWARD DURING ROUTING... else, you will get gouges... like I did... TWO of them!
See what I mean?
Cutting Male of Sliding Dovetail into Corbels / Brackets.
Preparing the Corbels...
Basic dry fit... Arrangement...
Made patterns for Inlays... to cover gouges. Used the Whiteside router Inlay kit... Worked like a charm.
Inlaying to cover up the Gouges...
Ready to Finish...
Arm-R-Seal wipe on varnish, Gloss, Four coats.

Cool looking shelf...I like the SD's. That piece is the perfect piece for the area. The butterfly keys are a good idea. I don't usually go to that much trouble but, I do get into modified dutchman's. I will recede the area in a shape that kinda goes with the grain, and inlay a veneer thick enough to stand a bit high, and sand off. If I picked right, and inlaid right, the repair is practically invisible...well, not invisible, but looks better than the goof up.

Mike, thank you for the nice comments. On that repair, I guess I wanted to use that router inlay kit... I could have scrounged another piece of wood, flattened it, & used it for the butterfly instead of the dark wood... I guess I wasn't thinking very clearly and wasn't really paying that much attention to it. I got the Sliding DT's done, they worked, etc., & I wanted it done. ... I didn't even glue it together!

Cool Joe! That's the neat thing about sliding dovetails, no gluing. I made a lot of selves at the collage like this. The only difference was I blinded the SDT in the front and on the bottom of the wall bracket to make them a bit of a mystery. They were screwed to the wall in the SDT track then slid down into position.
