After a little searching and getting help from other Forums, this is the Twine that I got from Home Depot. Hey! I just noticed something NEW, for me... I can take the option to "Pick Up my Order at the Store!"... That saves me a lot of walking! (The part I hate the most when I go there!) I just go to the Service desk & pick it up!! COOL!I decided to get a 2,250' roll so I could make more than one stool... Don't know for sure, but pretty close to 4 stools MIGHT be able to be made from this roll... I may have to get a small roll to finish-up... Won't know until I get there! ;D I priced the Menard store... after seeing the Shipping Charge, Home Depot was the clear winner for me. Also, I am planning on rounding over the tops of the Legs on the INSIDE so they do not dig into the body... more on this later... I am also planning on making mine taller so I can sit comfortably at a scroll saw.

Hey! I think it's finally TIME to make this nice little stool before I get WRAPPED up in something else...! I think I'll make mine a little taller... to make it easier on my knees... Has anyone else made this COOL stool?

I hope I don't get 'wrapped up' in this project!

That is a cool stool, and looks like an easy build. I think I would use a smoother weave than twine. I mean really, if yer naked, that twine would be scratchy wouldn't it? For the height, I would go with 18" for just a stool, or for dining table height. For working at kitchen counter height of 36" I would make it 24". If for a stand up bar height of 42", I would make it 30". Keep us posted with the WIP pics.

We already have a nice chair/stool for kitchen prep.. aid... Helps a lot! I am leaning toward the 18" to replace a computer desk chair. I already have the twine... I doubt if we would ever sit on it naked... I thought I'd make it square so the woven pattern ends in the middle evenly. I also thought of putting the bottom sets of rails closer to the bottom... maybe ~6" from floor. What do think about that? I have some good thick wood that I got from old bedroom furniture torn apart... for legs. I might cut parts for 2 stools... just as easy while I'm doing it. What smooth stuff would you use for the weave material? Thank you for your comments.

I got some old crappy furniture (bedroom dresser & bed frame) that was being thrown away. There was some pretty good pieces where some 1-1/2" thick wood was used... parts of a Head Board, I think. It looked like it would make pretty good Legs for this project! I cut some strips, studied it a little, & found I could make TWO of these stools... One a little taller, etc. and the other slightly smaller. I have marked everything the way I want the pieces oriented, top vs bottom, etc. I am up to the point of Sanding, Drilling, and Finishing the Legs (the part I don't care much for & has been sitting at this stage). ... this has to be done BEFORE putting it together and wrapping the twine! After I clean the place up, I will get back to this... and have a couple of stools to use here n there... They look like FUN... Just thought I'd give y'all an update on it... Have a good one! Joe

Take a few pics at the stage you're in, so we can get some idea what you're working with.
