In Central Connecticut we are in our second heat wave of the month. Dry and 90+ degrees and the same with the humidity. Living in the A/C condo. Just go out to water my wife's flowers.

I have to say it's hot here at the lower tip if Lake Michigan around 92. A few storms have blown through but it's still muggy. I don't care too much about the heat here in the shop 'cause of the A/C. ;D

Man O MAN... THAT must be really nice! All the comforts of a nice cozy office for a woodshop! It would cost me a FORTUNE to even think about A/C in my garage! Not a chance! I gotta put up with it... The last week or so has been very pleasant... 80's to low 90's for HIGHs... and nice & cool at nice to cool everything down... I didn't think it got that hot around Lake Michigan... high humidity too... Our heat is not very humid... BUT NOT as dry as Arizona heat... THAT is DRY heat! Hope to get my Card Boxes done this weekend... Those lil 5mm barrel hinges scare me a little... we'll be very careful & see how it goes... Thank for checking in, Paul... good to hear from you!

Yep, we get the heat + the humidity all summer long. Fall is about the only time when I can open up the shop to the out side. My shop is a garage too but when I bought the place, I found out the garage was insulated, so in went the heat and the cooling . I use to do heating and cooling service, so since I still had connections with the whole-sellers, and did it all myself, the cost was quarter if I had someone else do it. However, that was around 5 years ago. BTW I do look at those projects of yours, Looking Good!

Our garage is not insulated... Would be a huge job (now) to insulate, install equipment, and then Pay to run it! I'm glad someone is looking at the stuff I post... Makes one wonder when there's not much activity... Thank you!

I hate to bring up an old topic, but it's been hot here all Summer. We've had 58 days of 95+ temps. Not all in a row, but it's still hot. We got a $500 electric bill for the month of July. My wife durn near crapped a gold brick. I told her it was because our a/c is 15 years old & not a high efficiency unit to boot.

It has been in the high 90's here... ... looks like it will be that way for awhile...
I start dripping sweat by just sitting here!
I've been drinking a lot of ICE WATER!

Sounds like Herb you have high electric rates. I have a A/C 2.5 ton built in 1985 and a 12,000 btu split unit for the shop plus what's ever in the house totaling $189 last month.
Of course, the outdoor unit is a rap-a-round coil design instead of a slab type and tend to last longer.

That's one of the main reasons we don't have it... can't afford to keep it cool!!
We're into 3 digit temps AGAIN!!
HOT HOT HOT!

But you should see my heating bill, it peaks around $350! It's cheaper to cool then to heat here... that's why I have been thinking about a heat pump. Electricity is cheaper here than natural gas.

WOW! Our heating bill is less than 1/3 of yours... less than $100... ... we use our fireplace as much as we can... Electricity is more expensive than Nat. Gas here... alot... more... I've heard good things about those 'heat pumps'... I think they're the most popular out here.
