Dear Fort Collins High School Administrators,
I am writing about your student council proposing to have a day to celebrate America and being "shot down" by you, the Administrators.
In the News:
"The student council at Fort Collins High School had proposed having a day to celebrate the United States during next week’s Winter Spirit Week. The young people pitched “’Merica Monday” – and invited their classmates to dress in patriotic colors. Their proposal was promptly shot down by administrators."
Your reason for the refusal being...
“They said they didn't want to offend anyone from other countries or immigrants,” a 16-year-old member of the student council told me. “They just really did not want to make anyone feel uncomfortable.”
You are forgetting one very simple and important fact. This is Our Country and it does NOT belong to "anyone from other countries or immigrants" unless they are here legally! If anyone from other countries or immigrants are present in your school, they should be here legally! And if they are here legally, they would probably be very HAPPY about being here and would be proud to be able to celebrate America for a day!
Now, if there are people illegally here from other other countries, that means they should NOT be here because they are breaking the law to be here... And we should NOT care whether or NOT THEY are offended or NOT!
You should be proud of your student council wanting to celebrate America! We don't have enough of that type of celebration going on!
You should feel ashamed for disallowing this celebration of America!
You are a disgrace to our Country by NOT allowing it!
This message is going out to the World... after you hear more about how the rest of our country feels about this, I trust you will change your minds and allow it to be done.
Now, if you say that you didn't think it was "politically correct", then, I say screw Politically Correctness... This damn Politically Correct crap has gone too far and should be removed from all priorities and instead, base our actions on what is Right and Correct vs bad and Common Sense!
Please listen to the Country and allow your great students to celebrate America!
Thank you very much,
Joe Lyddon...
Proud American...
